Bogdan Molea

Bogdan Molea was born in Bucharest, Romania on February 8th, 1958. In 1984, he completed university studies at the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, with three majors in Monumental Art, Conservation-Restoration and Art Teaching. This interdisciplinary study and contact with ancient works of art, especially the 14th century Byzantine frescoes of Romanian medieval architectural monuments as well as the influence of the Italian renaissance defined the artist's interest and devotion to the technical and cultural aspects of artistic expression. At the end of 1999, Bogdan and his family moved to Toronto where he now works and exhibits. Figurative and object oriented, Bogdan deals with concepts of space and visual perception using the evocative power of certain dramatic shapes to induce projections of one's thoughts. The art of Bogdan Molea is a statement for high professionalism, cultural continuity and identity as well as the concept of beauty in contemporary artistic creation.
